Tips to Achieve Work-Life Balance
October 2004
I am pleased to send to you the October issue of Champions, It's
All About Balance. Most of us struggle with creating or maintaining
an acceptable Work-Life balance. The ten tips that follow come
from the July 2004 issue of Training and Development magazine.
Tips to Achieve Work-Life Balance
- Have both short and long-term goals and work towards achieving
them.
- Use these goals to prioritize your activities. Take care
of the most pressing tasks first and know when to call it quits
for the day.
- Ask others for help. Find a mentor.
- Know your limits. Work smarter not harder or longer.
- Volunteer at something that gives back to others and gives
you pleasure and/or satisfaction.
- Don't do it all, ask for help when you need it.
- Surround yourself with nutritious people. Negative people
drain your energy.
- Take the time required to be effective in your communication
with others.
- Work on projects that have a beginning and an end. Gain closure.
- Make sure the human processes are in place before trying
to use technology to solve problems.
